Leica DM IRBE Fluorescence Microscope

Instrument:
Leica DM IRBE

A Leica DM IRBE microscope is fitted with a 100W Hg lamp and natural density filters, which supply variable excitation intensity. Fluorescence filter cubes for a widerange of dyes, including: DAPI, FITC, GFP, YFP, TRITC, and CY5. Brightfield transmission for all objectives and DIC imaging for high magnification is also available. A Leica DFC350 FX fluorescence (black and white) camera is attached for image acquisition. This camera provides up to 12 bit data with up to 2.9 Mega pixels.

Objectives:
10X dry (PL FLUOTAR 0.3NA)
20X dry (PL APO 20x/0.70NA)
40X oil (PL FLUOTAR 1.0-0.5NA)
100 X oil (PL APO 1.4-0.7 NA)

Filters (techical information)
"Filtercube name" - Common Dyes

"A"- DAPI, Hoechst, Calcofluor
"I3"-FITC, Alexa 488, Oregon Green
" GFP"- GFP
"YFP"-YFP
"N2.1" - TRITC, Texas Red, Alexa 532-594, PI
"+Y5"- Cy5, Alexa 633-680,

Access and Training:

The microscopy facility provides assisted use and training for this instrument.

For assisted use, contact a member of the microscopy staff to schedule an initial consultation. We will work with you to develop and experiment that is both technically feasible and meets your scientific needs.

For information about training, stop by the Microscopy Facility Office (1.426 H) to discuss your microscopy plans and set up a training session. Each trainee must attend at least 2 hours of microscope training with Dr. Bardo or John Mendenhall. Once training is complete the trained user will be given unassisted access to the instrument.

Location:
The Leica SP2 AOBS is located in MBB 1.426 U.
