RNA Biology
UT Austin is widely recognized as a leading center for RNA Biology. Research ranges from the biophysical analysis of RNA folding pathways to RNA localization in living cells. Many of the faculty in the CMB program study RNA-related topics, including transcription, introns, splicing, translation, ribosome biogenesis, as well as using RNA as a biotechnology tool.
Faculty, students and post-docs working on RNA-related projects come together once a month to share and discuss their results at the RNA Club. This group meets the first Tuesday of the month at 12 noon in MBB 1.212. The RNA Club offers an informal forum for presentation and discussion of all things RNA with pizza and drinks provided by Ambion (The RNA Company in Austin).
